Job Experience

11/04 to Present - SunGard - Contractor

Contracted by SunGard Trading and Risk Systems to rewrite and enhance their BAPP (Basel Application Pre-Processor). Originally written in VB, it consists of a Windows client functioning as a command console and a Windows based server communicating via TCP/IP. My role is to redesign and write the console, server and communications layer utilizing C#.Net. Originally written as a internal utility, SunGard is redeveloping this application to be sold as part of their product suite and needs a professional, industrial strength product. The purpose of this utility is to load legacy data into an analytical database and apply numerous financial calculations to prepare the data for analysis.


10/04 to 11/04 - Analog Device - Contractor

Contracted for 3 weeks to take their sales employee review application to production. This application was an ASP.Net, VB.NET, SQLServer application being tested as a pilot. Numerous enhancements and bug fixes where required to make the application production worthy.


07/04 to 10/04 - TJX Companies - Contractor

Contracted to contribute to the development of the numerous TJX sites and infrastructure. Design and developed an Intranet application and log scrapping application that collects the error logs from the 18 web sites and consolidates them into a SQL database for reporting,  ASP.NET was used to summarize and display the error data. Created an ASP.NET interface to VSS in order to facilitate the delivery of web site assets from the marketing and creative groups to the development team. Assisted in the creation of the TJX Gymnastics site. Currently converting the current implementation of the MapPoint.Net interface used on all the TJX sites to a COM object.  The current implementation of mixed ASP/ASP.NET pages causes the need for 2 versions of the site’s pages and script.


08/01 to 07/04 - Monster.com/MonsterMoving.com - Contractor

Current Development:

Complete lifecycle development of a new core system to support MonsterMoving’s pay-per-lead initiative. Solely responsible for the system design and development of a C#.NET / NT service and Web Service to process lead requests.  All future revenues will be derived from leads generated through this system. This lead processing system will manage the delivery and tracking of all lead requests for MonsterMoving.com.  Championed for the introduction of Microsoft’s .Net architecture into the MonsterMoving environment. Authored and presented to the CTO of both Monster.com and MonsterMoving, the Technical System Design to justify .Net’s inclusion into MonsterMoving’s   infrastructure. Being the first .Net effort, a database and utility namespaces were needed. Utilities to provide FTP, Email, HTTP, and XML capabilities were created

Past Development:

Contracted to contribute to the development of the MonsterMoving.com site. Developed the Yellow Pages, Child Care Center and Storage Provider Center for the MonsterMoving commercial site.This development required the use of ASP, COM, VBScript, JavaScript and Visual Basic.SQL 2000 was used on the backend requiring the creation of stored procedures, user defined functions and database objects as well as scripts to convert and bulk load customer data.Developed for general use at Monster, a COM object to request from third party sites XML responses and returned to IIS/ASP an ADO recordset.This object is in production within the Storage Provider Center to provide real time quotes and availability. Developed a nightly bulk loading utility to allow the uploading of third-party data into the MonsterMoving Yellow Pages. This utility was written in VB/COM.The administration site was also enhanced to take advantage of this business logic for managing Yellow Page data.



04/01 to 08/01e-Trax - Independent Contractor

Contracted to design and create a Visual Basic application utilizing Microsoft Access as the database.This application is a commercial application designed to track corporate training.The application makes extensive use of custom user controls as plug-ins and custom COM objects. Reporting was delivered via Crystal Reports 8 API.Database connectivity was provided via ODBC and ADO. ASP development was required to provide commercial web registration, demo and license downloading, and order processing of license requests. Design and development of a SQLServer database, including tables, triggers, and stored procedures was required to support the ASP interface.


08/2000 to 04/01 - bowstreet - Independent Contractor

Contracted to create bowstreet's Corporate Data Store and centralized reporting environment utilizing Microsoft SQL Server 7, ASP, Crystal Reports 8 and J++ 6.0.A custom multi-threaded utility was written in JAVA to move the production data sets to a data warehouse. Created a JAVA applet to provide a menu for corporate users to execute reports via bowstreet's intranet.This applet dynamically queries the database for reporting requirements such as parameters, prompts, data types and report files based on the user.ASP and ADO was used for database connectivity and the rendering of the report.


11/99 to 10/2000 - New England Organ Bank - Independent Contractor

Contracted to consolidate NEOB's Clinical databases and applications to allow for consistent reporting.This was achieved by deploying a data warehouse to house information collected from NEOB's main system "ORIS" and converting archival data from previously used systems.A synchronization application was written in Visual Basic to produce the initial dataset and to provide incremental updates from the ORIS Sybase DBMS to the Microsoft SQL Server 7 warehouse.Views where written against the warehouse to insulate the users from the low level structure and provide a more intuitive window into the data. Two Apple/Foxbase applications (Death Record Review and Consent) where re-designed/re-written in Visual Basic to use the "ORIS" legacy database to integrate with the Clinical data.Internet reporting was then provided from the new warehouse via ASP and Crystal Reports 8.Internal reporting is being provided via Crystal Reports and a custom ActiveX menu control on the intranet.This menu control dynamically queries the database for report control data from within the client's browser using HTTPS for the connection to the database.Report control data consists of required parameters, parameter labels, parameter hints, parameter data type and ranges which is unique to the report selected.


11/98 to 10/99 Pegasus Satellite Television - Independent Contractor

Sole contributor for the creation of a"Subscribers" data warehouse in SQLServer 7.0 to replace current MS Access systems.Roles included the creation of the server, schema, data mapping and load programs which where written in Visual Basic.Provided all DBA activities for the SQLServer environment. Designed, developed and deployed a Sales Tracking application using Visual Basic and Microsoft SQLServer 7.0. This application was designed for remote salesmen utilizing SQLServer dynamic merge replication providing each salesman a replica of the data he or she was responsible for. Designed and developed Intranet application using ASP, JavaScript, VBScript and ADO. This application gave customer visibility to the Sales Tracking data set.


12/97 to 11/98 Nestor Interactive - Independent Contractor

Participated in product development effort of a web based personalization system (InterSite). This product consists of a Java based client/server service utilizing Microsoft SQLServer 6.5, CORBA, Active Server Pages and ADO. Primary responsibilities where the development of a web client for configuration of the InterSite engine, Develop Java test drivers, overall system testing and streamlining with respect to accuracy and performance.


4/96 to 4/2000 VideoServer - Independent Contractor

Responsible for the installation, performance and support of VideoServer's SQL environment. Developed a data warehouse of their Minx ERP system. Wrote utilities to read the Minx schema and generate the tables, procedures and indexes necessary to clone the 290+ Minx tables. Created a nightly batch job responsible for updating the Minx warehouse. Contracted to rewrite the manufacturing test/quality tracking system (QA) and convert the existing data to the SQL Schema. This system was written in Visual Basic using a Microsoft SQLServer. QA is a mission critical system feeding many downstream applications and is the sole source of Serial Number tracking as well as the source of system configurations shipped to customers. Developed several nightly feeds from the warehouse and QA to Notes databases using Visual Basic and VBLink. Provided training and ongoing support to users on Microsoft Access. Developed Access and Crystal reports for the manufacturing system. Created an interactive Intranet based query tool to query the manufacturing and SAP system using ASP, VBScript, JavaScript and ADO and custom COM objects. Participated in the installation of SAP. Responsible for all interfaces needing data from SAP. Tasks included designing and creating COM objects written in VB for SAP integration. Updated existing application to take advantage of these interfaces. Assisted SAP's ABAP programmer with OLE automation tasks related to these new COM interfaces.

Developed a prototype using Delphi and MS SQLServer for consideration as an alternative to their existing system. Assisted in the definition and implementation of a Lotus Notes based system. Provided conversion programs that extracted the existing call data , processed and loaded the Notes database using Visual Basic and Brainstorm's Notes VBLINK VBX.

Provided support to IS as Senior Client/Server Developer and Database Administrator. Defined logical and physical database design for a FieldWatch data warehouse on Microsoft SQLServer. Developed nightly refresh routines to load data from VAX FieldWatch dispatch system. Provided support for database to user community. Defined and built SUN/UNIX Production, Development and Test environments for SYBASE SQLServer 4.92 for OLTP efforts. Installed SYBASE Omni Gateway on VMS to access FieldWatch RMS data files and UNIX Servers. Trained a member of the user community as a Visual Basic developer. Working as a mentor, technical assistance was provided for his Microsoft Access application accessing the FieldWatch data warehouses. Assisted in the definition of a costing data warehouse. Built and tuned SYBASE System10 server on UNIX platform. Designed the logical and physical database, provided backup utilities and administration support for the SQLServer and OS.
